DISCLAIMER: Not mine. Last time I checked I wasn't one of Joss's spider-eating man bitches.
TIMELINE: A few months after 'The Gift' and 'There's no place like Plytz Glirb'
SPOILERS: 'The Gift' and 'There's no place like plrytz glib' I'd say the highlight moments of the B/A relationship are fair game too.
SYNOPSIS: Angel gets word that Buffy is back from the dead.
DISTRUBUTION: If you really want it, take it just let me know where its' going.
AUTHOR'S NOTES: I'm currently experiencing major writer's block, so if this sucks, just blame it on that. To all of you who have been bugging me about a sequel to 'Thank You' I promise I'll get it out before I die. Just blame it on the writers block.
FEEDBACK: I will love you forever! Please, please, please! ( I usually don't beg like this I swear)
RATING: PG-13
DEDICATION: To Sarah Mechelle Gellar and the entire cast of 'Buffy', who never cease to amaze me with their amazing acting talent. As an aspiring actress myself, I only hope that I will be able to be half as good as them.
Los Angeles
" Angel Investigations, We help the Helpless. How can we help you?" Cordelia chirped into the phone, putting on her best fake smile. 'I do not get paid enough for this' she thought as she waited for a reply from the other end of the phone line.
"Cordy? It's Willow." came the unusually cheerful reply, considering the fact that her best friend had just died.
"Hey Will. What's up?" Cordy answered, while paying more attention to the nail she was filing. She was getting used to Willow's phone calls. She called every few weeks to get an update on Angel, who was still reeling from the news that his soulmate was dead. When Willow came to the hotel and told them, Angel didn't even try to be the brave and noble hero they all knew him to be. He just fell to his knees and started sobbing. Cordelia had never seen anyone in so much pain, and she hoped she would never see anything like it ever again.
"Well, I have some pretty amazing news." Willow said from her end of the phone.
"Really?" Cordy asked. "What is it?"
"Buffy's alive."
Cordelia was so shocked she almost dropped the phone. Buffy alive? It just couldn't be.
"WHAT? How? When?" Cordy yelled into the phone.
Willow laughed. "The Powers that Be said it wasn't her time, so they gave me a resurrection spell to bring her back. I did it and it worked. She's here and alive. She's okay."
Cordelia was amazed. "Oh my God"
" Tell me about it. She wants to see you guys, so do you think you could come up to Sunnydale?"
Cordy snapped out of her daze long enough to answer Willow's question. "Yeah, sure. we'll be there in a few hours."
"Great! See you then! Bye!" Willow said, then hung up the phone.
"Yeah, bye" Cordy replied, still completely shocked. She couldn't believe it. Okay.. She and Buffy had never been the best of buds, but Cordy was genuinely upset when she found out about Buffy's heroic death. And now she's back? Cordy's mind was jumbled with a thousand different thoughts until she realized one thing.. She had to tell Angel.
A smile slowly spread across her face when she realized how happy Angel would be. He had been dangerously broody 24/7, but now he'd be Angel again. She got up and went into the lobby of the hotel, where Wesley and Angel were researching their latest evil. They both looked up as she walked in.
"Who was on the phone?" Wesley asked.
"It was Willow." Cordy answered. "We have to go to Sunnydale."
"Why?" Wesley asked, concerned.
"Because" she said, looking straight at Angel, her eyes never leaving his. "Buffy's alive."
Cordelia had never seen so much joy in one persons' eyes, then she did in Angel's at that very moment.
Part 2
Sunnydale
" They're coming. They'll be here in a few hours." Willow reported to the Scooby Gang , who were assembled at Buffy's house.
"What did Cordelia say when you told her?" Xander asked a little too eagerly.
"God Xander! Why can't you just stop dwelling on all your ex-girlfriends and pay attention to me sometimes!" Anya huffed in annoyance.
Willow cracked a small smile. She still couldn't believe they were engaged. She had always seen herself marrying Xander, but things changed. Anyway, she had Tara now. She just got Tara back and she loved her, didn't she? They continued with their conversation, Xander asking about Cordy, Buffy asking about Angel, and Anya asking about sex. Willow smiled as she realized this was how it was always going to be.No matter how far apart they were, Cordy, Wesley, and Angel would always be a part of the Scooby family. Willow's thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the front door.
"Oh God." Buffy said. "They're here. What do I do? What the hell am I gonna say to him?"
"Buffy, calm down." Giles replied. " If I know Angel, you won't need to say anything."
Dawn rose to answer the door, and when she opened it, she was greeted with 3 wide and excited smiles.
"Dawn!" Cordy said, as she enveloped her in a hug. "How are you?"
"Good." Dawn replied. "It's great to see you guys. I missed you."
Dawn led the three of them into the living room. She looked around and realized that Buffy was nowhere to be seen.
"Where did Buffy go?" Dawn asked as they sat down.
"Oh, the timer went off in the kitchen." Tara answered. "Buffy went to go check on it."
Without saying a word, Angel got up and headed for the kitchen. He didn't care what she was doing. He needed to see her. He needed to talk to her. He needed her to hold him and reassure him that she was really there. He just plain needed her.
Everyone in the living room smiled as Angel walked into the kitchen. It was obvious how much he still loved her. They started making small talk, all of them pretending they weren't dying to know what was going on in the kitchen. Finally Wesley asked, "Do we dare go in?"
"Hold on." Willow replied." Let me go and see what's going on."
She got up and peeked around the corner. She stared for a few moments and then returned to her seat.
"Nah. Leave them alone." She said with a smile. "They have a lot to talk about."
Everyone seemed satisfied with that answer, and went back to their conversation. Willow sat back against the couch, a small smile on her face. For she was the only one who knew that in the kitchen, there wasn't a lot of talking going on. No, in that kitchen, at that very moment, a pair of soulmates were being reunited. And this time, they would stay together, forever. For this truly was, their new beginning.
